Dear PYMB,
As you guys know, we have about 5 more weeks left together. To be more exact, 42 more days to COMPETITION day itself and 24 more days to our first and ONLY rehearsal at the competition ground itself, Singapore Indoor Stadium. You guys have gone through thick and thin, numerous scoldings, punishments, sweat, tears, and even lost of blood. *As some of you would have noticed, most have even lost weight!* Think about it, we have actually gone through all that TOGETHER, as a TEAM! At first, im sure, most of you we uncertain about certain things. Now, believe it or not, we're already halfway through this journey! YOU determine how YOU want the end of this chapter to be. Happy? Sad? Regret? Fulfilling? YOU decide. All your MONTHS of hardwork is going to go just like that in matter of MINUTES. And most probably, some of you are not going be seeing the person beside you in the formation as often as you did when there's band. While some of you are going to remain as best friends. And I can GARAUNTEE you that you'll feel awkward, like something is missing in your life a few days after SYF.
Think about it, every band practice, you guys get much closer to each other, more bonded, learning to accept each other for who they are. You guys not only make friends, but along the way you guys learn values,values that that will guide you when you step out of school and enter the REAL world out there, values that builds up your character as a person, a character which people will remember. In fact, you guys are the luckiest people on earth! Who would thought you'll get all of these by joining a band? Those people out there who didn't join PING YI MARCHING BAND are really missing out on alot of things! Don't you guys thing so?! Therefore, treasure every moment! Trust me, you guys will only really realise that PYMB is the BEST place to be in when you guys graduate! Even till now, I LOVE THE BAND! How I wish I could still study in Ping Yi and be in the band. I really miss marching with my instrument, performing for events, performing for the school, and the best of all is, MARCHING IN FRONT OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE for SYF! Thats the best experience of all! Standing proud and tall to show those thousands of people what PYMB IS ALL ABOUT! But every beginning has and ending. My chapter ended in 2007 and let me tell you, those four years in band was the best "storybook' i have ever written! *Ill give myself FULL MARKS for that essay!* (:
So, come on guys! Lets finish this 'storybook' of yours with the best ending ever! An ending which you guys and everyone will remember! We, the Alumni's are doing our best and our part to help you guys. So, why not you guys do your part by helping yourself! Keep motivating each other! Whenever you're tired, remember, you guys are not going through this alone! Lets persevere! Remember your school motto 'Perseverence Yeilds Success'! and of course the band's "Conquer the mind, Achieve the Dream"!
